Mi novia el...(My girlfriend him…) is an uncompleted movie title made in Argentina in 1975. It was supposed to be named “My girlfriend the travesty”…
Because it was made during the military “dirty war” times, it was strictly edited as an imposition of the military censor. The producers did not have any other choice than to conform to the rules imposed by the rigid military government and the strong influencing cleric that did not accepted anything different from what they considered to be outside the standards.
But it did not finish in
castrating the last world of the title, the military censor loudly demanded to
remove the famous female impersonator Jorge Perez Evelyn from the role of
travesty because a the movie wasn’t able to be shown with a man dressing as a
women, but he allowed to the real female who did the role to dress as a man, (unbelievable
right?) …
Again, it didn’t end in there;
also the script was changed to establish what the militaries and clerics
believe what the word “family is supposed to be”, and the movie instead of
ending in a happy gay couple as it was the original script, ended in the travesty
being a real woman making believe she was a man to achieve fame in the show
business?

noticed that it was impossible to achieve his goals in a country of restrictions
and cruelty. He was particularly special for being protected for famous show
business producer as Gerardo Sofovich, but even like that, his talents where
limited to be seen in Theatres or Music Halls but never wide-public as
television or cinema. Also the press was very careful when talking about Jorge
in the magazines or newspapers. Only the adventurous did without being reprimanded.

The robust position of guidance
that the church had back then with the military forces resulted in a persecution
of everything that was different, homosexuals, transsexuals, lesbians, rock singers
and entertainers. They were immediately detained, tortured and for not reason
or cause, or incarcerated without any previous judgment or just disappeared from
society.

Argentina after receiving menaces and fearing for his life, thanks to the famous choreographer and music hall producer “Joaquin
Riviera” from Venezuela, who was extremely impressed with Jorge talents to
starring a musical Vegas style in Caracas, where Evelyn shined for two consecutive
years, frequently being the cover of the most important magazines and talk of
the entire country.
Now after 43 years of that
infamous period and crimes done against the LGBT community, most of the crimes
have not been brought to light or punished.
I remember that Evelyn was supposed to starring this movie but the militaries did not allowed it. As everything during the dirty war it was also hidden.
